Last week was Victoria’s Day so I didn’t update the portfolio.
The roller coaster ride in the last two weeks was quite worrisome. What I did is to ignore the fluctuation by staying away from the market. Wait until the picture is clearer. However, I still took the opportunity to buy some more Sun Life before ex-div date. 5% yield is attractive. Royal bank gave a good report for the last quarter, however, it doesn’t impress investors simply because it is not great. MORE PROFIT, that’s what people are expecting from the Canada’s largest bank. Well, comparing to other Canadian banks, they are in the similar situation, so I don’t think Royal Bank is falling behind in the industry. Stock price dropped from 52 weeks high @ $62.89 to this Friday close $55.39, which is more than 10% adjustment. It is now more reasonable to pickup the stock again. If next week market drops, I hope to re-enter at ~$53 range. Bought SLF @ $29.42 |
